Maximo Martinez (615 -Mex), Ron Clarke (Aus), Mohammed Gamoudi (Tunisia), Emiel Puttelmans
(Belgium). Australia 's world record holder Ron Clarke, could only finish sixth and, on crossing the line,
he collapsed and was unconscious for 10 minutes.
